A Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? spin-off series is said to be in the works over at ITV following the success of Jeremy Clarkson’s reboot.
The Grand Tour presenter breathed new life into the game show in 2018 and has been renewed a number of times since.
According to insiders, bosses are eager to launch the sister programme Fastest Finger First, which would be an extension of the first round of Millionaire where contestants have to put answers in a specific order.
The fastest player to get the answer right then gets a go in the hot seat.
‘This is a reflection of just how much of a triumph the reboot has been because even the original Millionaire didn’t spawn a spin-off show,’ a source told The Sun.
‘And that was a phenomenon which was on our screens for a staggering 16 years under its former host, Chris Tarrant, before it was eventually axed in 2014.
‘So this shows how much ITV believes the contest has captured the imagination of a whole new generation of viewers.’
Whether Jeremy himself will front the spin-off show remains up in the air for now, but filming is said to begin later this year.
Jeremy is currently filming for the second series of his Amazon Prime Video show Clarkson’s Farm.
The programme sees the presenter embark on the unexpected journey of taking over the day-to-day running of his farm in the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, looking after livestock and growing crops with the show’s breakout star Kaleb.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is available to stream on the ITV Hub.
