Warning: Spoilers for the end of Season 10 of the Walking Dead below.

Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Rhee in The Walking Dead, has hinted the heroine is getting her own spin-off once the series comes to an end after season 11.

Cohan has played Maggie in The Walking Dead since season two, and says that her character might live on past the conclusion of the show.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Cohan floated the idea that talks have been had that might see her character find her own series.

After admitting to not knowing exactly how her character will end up at the conclusion to The Walking Dead, Cohan said: ‘I know that there are murmurings of an extended story with Maggie when the official mothership is done.’

Cohan left The Walking Dead back in Season 9 to focus on her now-cancelled show, Whiskey Cavalier, but returned in heroic fashion during Season 10’s conclusion.

It’s expected that she will see out the show’s final season.

The Walking Dead season 11, will be broken up into two parts, each containing 12 episodes. The first half is expected to run next year, with the show then reaching its conclusion in 2022.

The franchise has a long future ahead of it in spite of that though. The Walking Dead already boasts an impressive spin-off palette that doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond have already found their way to TV, and there’s a Daryl and Carol spin-off show in the works.

Any potential spin-off featuring Maggie appears to be early in development, and with several other shows already on the docket, it’s not clear when plans for the proposed series might go ahead.

Between The Walking Dead’s conclusion and the continuation of new spin-offs, fans of the series will have plenty of zombie apocalypse action to sink their teeth into for years to come.

The Walking Dead airs on AMC in the US and Fox UK.
