X Factor star issues warning after testing positive for Covid-19 despite not displaying any main symptoms

X Factor star Ashley Fongho has tested positive for coronavirus despite not displaying any of the main symptoms.

The rapper, who is part of the band Rak-Su, explained that he can still ‘taste and smell’, he doesn’t have a continuous cough or a high temperature, yet he tested positive for the virus.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Ashley revealed that he got tested for Covid-19 after he started to develop headaches and fatigue.

‘I got tested for coronavirus on January 2, and got a positive result on the 3rd,’ he told us.

‘My symptoms started off as headaches initially, although over the past couple of days a cough has developed and more fatigue.’

The star went on to warn other people who also don’t show any of the main symptoms, to ‘get tested and isolate’ anyway.

‘The worrying thing for me is that obviously, the government wants us to be responsible without the amount of testing,’ he continued.

‘So they say to only get checked when you lose your sense of taste/smell, develop a new continuous cough or a high temperature.’

‘I didn’t have any of these symptoms but was Covid positive. It’s scary to think over the past year how many asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic people have had the virus and spread it because they didn’t think they were Covid positive,’ he added.

‘So even if you’re not suffering immensely, I’d urge you to lean on the side of caution, get tested and isolate.’

Ashley, who rose to fame on the talent show with his pals Myles Stephenson, Jamaal Shurland and Mustafa Rahimtulla, went on to share his experience with his followers on Instagram.

In a series of videos, the 28-year-old kept his fans updated on how he was feeling.

One of his followers asked him how he was feeling, to which he replied: ‘Thankfully, I am alright. I am drinking like three litres plus of water a day.

‘Fresh fruit, fresh veg and I was fairly healthy beforehand as well so touch wood I’m good. I think I’m alright.’

Another fan went on to question whether his result could have been a ‘false postive’.

The rapper went on to explain that his sister had also tested positive for Covid and he did have a headache and ‘quite a bit of fatigue’.

What are the main Covid-19 symptoms to look out for according to the NHS?

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

If you have any of these symptoms, get a test to check if you have coronavirus and stay at home until you get your result.
