Molly-Mae Hague has finally set the record straight on why she doesn’t talk about Love Island, admitting she’s intentionally distanced herself from the show.

The 22-year-old appeared on ITV2 dating programme in 2019 when she met and fell in love with boyfriend Tommy Fury.

They’re still going despite recent break-up rumours and Molly-Mae’s career continues to soar – to the point she can afford to turn down £2 million brand deals.

However, fans have long wondered why the reality star doesn’t talk about her time on Love Island or the latest set of contestants in the current series.

In an Instagram Q&A, Molly-Mae explained: ‘I’ve been getting so many questions about the new contestants and I wasn’t going to speak about it.

‘Obviously the last two years I have spent so much time not necessarily removing myself, because my job was an influencer before, but I wanted to go back to what I was doing before without that brand of being a Love Islander or just being known for that.

‘I definitely have spent a lot of time since I came out of the show removing myself from that stereotype and by doing that I just don’t speak about it a lot.’

She added: ‘My work is so important and my job is everything to me and I guess I think about these things a lot.

‘That’s quite an honest thing for me to tell you guys, but that’s just the truth.’

Molly-Mae and Tommy, also 22, narrowly missed out on winning Love Island, instead finishing runners-up with Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea taking the prize money.

In her latest YouTube video, Molly-Mae sat down with her manager Fran to discuss the business side of her career and what goes on behind-the-scenes.

Sharing details of her most eye-catching brand offer yet, Fran revealed: ‘Molly tells me her goals, like, “I want to buy a house, I want to take my family away”, it’s my job to make those goals happen.

‘She also tells me the goals of the brands she wants to work with, so I say okay, I will make it happen.’

Fran continued: ‘A high street fashion brand came along last year, offered me £2million, which is a lot of money, and said to me, “We’re obsessed with Molly-Mae, we’d love her to be the face of our brand, we want her to work with us”.

‘I thought, “Brilliant!”, and then I said to her, “How do you feel about that?” and she said no. I said, “Why? You told me you want to buy that house”, and she said, “No I don’t buy my clothes from there”.

‘I said to her, “Well you can start!”’

Later in the video, Molly-Mae and Fran teased that the star is set to announce her biggest brand collaboration yet, and that fans would find out in a couple of weeks.
