Piers Morgan looked far from impressed on Good Morning Britain and ‘declared war’ on money saving expert Martin Lewis for making an x-rated swipe at him.
On The Martin Lewis Money Show: Live, Martin made a joke about the star making a nude calendar, and took a savage, innuendo-laden swipe at it being ‘undersized’.
The moment was brought to the attention of Piers and co-host Susanna Reid on this morning’s show, leaving Piers fuming and Susanna open mouthed at the blunt nature of the comment.
Cutting to a clip of Martin’s show, which aired on Tuesday night, Martin is seen in a gameshow where he tells two families calling in from home: ‘While at the supermarket on impulse. You buy yourself Piers Morgan’s nude calendar 2021.
‘Excited about the idea of a new naked monthly picture of the Good Morning Britain host, when you get it home, sadly, you realise it’s undersized and won’t properly fill the space that you require.’
Dubbing Martin a ‘so-called co-worker’, Piers then seethed: ‘Alright, Lewis. This is what they call in television ‘a declaration of war’. Of war.’
‘Sorry I didn’t realise… I thought that might be suitable for family viewing. But actually, that was a little bit risky,’ Susanna said.
She later joked: ‘Did they buy the calendar or not?!’
Piers then said Martin was ‘on the list’ – so something tells us this isn’t the last we’ve heard of this.
Martin stepped down from his regular spot on GMB back in July, in order to lighten his workload, which included his new TV show.
He had been hosting a Deals Of The Week spot on daytime telly for the past 17 years, but decided it was time to say goodbye.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
